The first generation of XP10 series of the Toyota Vitz was designed by Sotiris Kovos, in the ED2 study of Toyota in Europe. Production began in late 1998, with sales for January 1999, in the European market sales began two months later as the Toyota Yaris. The Echo and the Yaris are names of the export version for the Toyota Platz, which is the sedan version of the Vitz. The Toyota Vitz and the Platz were designed using the same platform, the mechanics are very identical and both show a similar board.
Instead of conventional analog instruments, the Vitz used digital instruments which were mounted on a console in the center of the board, where you can see the speedometer, the range of revolutions in the RS version, including a small digital dashboard that marks the odometer, the fuel and the time.

The front mask is mesh type that includes the RS logo, the front bumper includes a mesh type arrangement and fog foggers, side skirts, the rear bumper with larger light micas, original spoiler and 15-inch alloy rings. Inside it is decorated in black.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome-plated door handles, a leather-covered shift knob and a chrome-plated center, RS-patterned side floorboards, its board were also equipped with white tachometers with a small RS logo.
